On the Run
My first flickr upload in a long (LONG) time is now available. Lost a memory card with over 200 pictures on it back in June, so there’s a gap of a few months, including our trip to Maryland in June. Bummer.

Here’s a shot of the multi-talented (and pretty darn cute) Lucy giving us a recital on Valentine’s Day. We were busy with birthdays in February. Jay turned six and Lucy turned three. We had many, many little celebrations through the month: Lucy had small celebration at home with a couple of friends on her official birthday, a celebration with each set of grandparents (one including Aunt Sharla and my new newphew who were visiting), a celebration at school, and her official combined birthday party with Jay later in the month. Jay had a small celebration with one set of grandparents first, his combined birthday party with Lucy, a small celebration at home with us on his official birthday, another cupcake celebration at school on that day, and an ice cream party that weekend with both sets of grandparents and his aunt and uncle (and new cousin). So there are LOTS of pictures. Check it out flickr if you want to see the latest (http://www.flickr.com/alamedanick).
Also, a non-sequitur side-note: Go Bears! 2010 Pac 10 Basketball Champs! Hurrah!!
Last weekend, Jay and his buddy Sofia received their yellow belts in Kung Fu at Alameda’s own USA Kung Fu Studio. Jay has been wearing his belt around ever since. Perhaps this is his sport? Anyway, more kid pics on www.flickr.com/shutterjunky. Probably lots more after Thanksgiving.
Also, if you’re feeling charitable, I would be most appreciative if you visit www.flickr.com/fullpressink and add fullpressink as a contact … fave or comment on a couple of photos. I am renewing my efforts to build up a photography portfolio … arty, interesting, useful or otherwise, and the fullpressink photo stream I set up on flickr is the location for it.
Happy Halloween! Hope to have a bunch of pictures of Jay (Harry Potter), Lucy (skeleton) and Finn (caterpillar) posted soon. They are getting dressed up today for the neighborhood and school parades and parties. And then again on Saturday for some serious trickertreatin. I’ll be dressing up for a party at work (and probably having to wear the costume to an audit committee meeting), but the hair is staying intact this year. More to come …
I just love this picture of Lucy and Jay together. I’ve been procrastinating on sorting through pictures so this had been sitting on my computer for a while before I cropped and uploaded it. A whole bunch of new pictures on flickr now … www.flickr.com/alamedanick. You’ll find pictures from our trip to Los Angeles and our San Diego visit with Lance and Nathan.
We’ve been busy adjusting to having two kids in school and Jay having an earlier start time for kindergarten, but are getting into the rhythm of it now. Still we managed to check out Rodrigo y Gabriela at the Fox Theater in Oakland on September 23 (unbelievably amazing show, I gotta say). See them live if you can; they’re pretty unique and incredibly talented and entertaining!
Here’s a family portrait we took on Sunday, 8-23, for Lucy’s preschool. Yep, Lucy’s off to preschool (already!), starting next week. Even more amazing to me, Jay starts kindergarten next week! I have a ton of pictures in the backlog (including more wedding and Southern California travel shots), which I’m hoping to work on over the next several days. You can check flickr for all the latest.
This is Lucy trying to look menacing before the ceremony started for my cousin, Sami’s, wedding last weekend. Lucy was a flower girl at the wedding and did her best to pick up all the petals dropped by her co-flower girl, Layla, and replace them in Layla’s basket as they walked down the aisle.
Finn is getting bigger (predictably) and is, so far, a pretty mellow baby (thank goodness!) who loves bathtime and enjoys watching fans, lights and swingy things that make jingly noises. Jay thinks Finn’s cute and tries to help comfort him when he’s upset. Lucy mostly wants to pat his head when he’s in easy reach and/or have mommy put him away so she can sit in mommy’s lap. A couple more pics on flickr!
I added a few more photos to flickr, which means they’re available on the Photo Galleries page at tweetlebeetlebattle.com. I finally got back my repaired laptop a couple of days ago, which means I will be able to edit and upload my pictures again. I’m way behind, I know, but hopefully will remedy that in August when things, in theory, settle down a bit for me work-wise.
I’m finally able to post again! It’ll take me a little while to rebuild everything completely, but the key components are still within easy reach. You can go to tweetlebeetlebattle.com/blog to see the old blog if you want to access old posts or comments. I’m having a devil of a time trying import those, so I’ve decided to give up (until someone who is more of a whiz with WordPress can explain to me how to import everything from a v.2.o2 WP blog into a new WP blog) and let them live on the old site.
(If anyone with some experience, wants to help, I simply installed a new version of WP and imported my themes and FAlbum. The instructions for upgrading directly from 2.02, which doesn’t have an auto-update process inside the admin site, looked too complicated so I balked at that. Using RSS files from the old blog on my hard drive doesn’t seem to work for importing, and my old installation of WP didn’t have the global RSS file that you find in the new versions. Suggestions welcome.)
